SnO₂ powder is an important inorganic compound.

Basic properties:

Appearance: usually white, light yellow or light grey tetragonal, hexagonal or rhomboid crystal system inorganic powder.
Melting point: 1630°C.
Boiling point: 1800℃.
Density: 6.95g/mL (25°C).
Hardness: 7-8 on the Mohs hardness scale, with high hardness.

Areas of application

Transparent conductive materials: Tin Oxide is the first commercially available transparent conductive material, often doped to improve its conductivity and stability, such as SnO₂:Sb, SnO₂:F, etc., which can be used in liquid crystal displays, solar batteries, transparent conductive electrodes.

Semiconductor sensor materials: gas sensors based on Tin Oxide are highly sensitive and can be used for detecting various combustible gases, environmental pollution gases, industrial waste gases and hazardous gases.

Varistor materials: By doping certain amount of CoO, Co₂O₃, Cr₂O₃, Nb₂O₅, Ta₂O₅, etc. into SnO₂, varistors with different resistance can be made, which are used in electric power systems, electronic circuits, household appliances and so on.
