Crystal structure: Zinc chloride is an ionic compound with a crystal structure in which zinc ions (Zn²⁺) and chloride ions (Cl-) are bonded by ionic bonds. Each zinc ion is surrounded by six chloride ions, forming an octahedral coordination structure, while each chloride ion is coordinated to three zinc ions, forming a three-dimensional network structure.

Chemical industry: used in organic synthesis as dehydrating agent and condensing agent to promote the reaction; act as catalyst to speed up the chemical reaction, such as in the reaction between methanol and hydrogen chloride to form dichloromethane.
Textile printing and dyeing industry: used as mordant to enhance the binding force between dyestuffs and fibers, improve the firmness and vividness of dyeing; used as mercerizing agent to improve the luster and feel of cotton fibers; also used as sizing agent and weighting agent to increase the strength of yarns and texture of fabrics.
Pharmaceutical field: as a medicinal astringent in low concentration, it can be used to formulate topical astringent solution to promote wound healing; as a disinfectant in high concentration, it is used for disinfecting medical equipment; it is also the raw material for synthesizing some medicines.
Electroplating industry: It is used as zinc ion additive in ammonium salt galvanizing to ensure the quality of electroplating layer and make the surface of plated parts get uniform, smooth and strong adhesion zinc coating.
Wood processing industry: used to impregnate wood, make it with anticorrosive and flame retardant properties, extend the service life of wood.
Battery manufacturing field: used as electrolyte, moisture absorber and corrosion inhibitor in dry batteries, which can help the batteries work normally and improve their performance and service life.
Petroleum industry: as a petroleum purifying agent, removing impurities and water in petroleum, and improving the quality of petroleum products; it can also be used in the treatment of acidification of oil wells, and improving the recovery rate of petroleum.
Rubber industry: as an auxiliary material of vulcanization accelerator ZPC, it promotes the vulcanization reaction of rubber and improves the physical and mechanical properties of rubber products.
Pigment industry: used as raw material of white pigment, producing white pigment with good covering power, whiteness and stability.
Analysis and testing field: used as analytical reagent for complex titration and other analytical methods to ensure the accuracy of analytical results.
