Basic Information

Chemical formula: WO₃, consists of tungsten (W) and oxygen (O), the tungsten valence is + 6.
Crystal structure: Orthorhombic, monoclinic and triclinic structures, of which orthorhombic is the most typical.
Appearance: WO₃ particles are usually light yellow or yellowish green.
Density: 7.16 g/cm³.
Hardness: approx. 5 – 6 on the Mohs hardness scale.

Application Fields

Optical films and coatings: Tungsten Oxide is used in the preparation of various optical films and coatings, such as anti-reflective coatings, transmittance enhancement films and filters.

Transistors and integrated circuits: WO₃, as a semiconductor material, has potential applications in the field of transistors and integrated circuits. By means of doping and nanostructuring, its electrical properties can be improved, making it possible to be used as an active layer or channel material for new electronic devices, and providing a new way to break through the bottleneck of the existing silicon-based electronic technology.
