Titanium Aluminium Vanadium, also known as Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy, is a high-strength α+β titanium alloy. Because of its excellent strength, corrosion resistance and high temperature performance, it is widely used in aerospace, biomedical, automotive and high-end manufacturing industries.

VIMATERIAL has earned the trust of a wide range of customers with its exceptional quality, comprehensive product range, and attentive service. Our products are exported worldwide and enjoy an excellent reputation. Committed to integrity and quality first, we warmly welcome customers to inquire and collaborate with us.

Basic composition of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy

The chemical composition of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy mainly includes the following key elements:

Titanium (Ti): Ti is the main matrix of the alloy, usually accounting for more than 90% of the alloy composition. Titanium’s light weight, good corrosion resistance, and high strength make it a core component of alloys.

Aluminum (Al): Aluminum usually accounts for 5-6% in Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy. Its main function is to improve the strength and oxidation resistance of the alloy. Aluminum is one of the most commonly used alloying elements in titanium alloys, which can significantly improve the phase transition temperature and mechanical properties of the material.

Vanadium (V): Vanadium content is usually 3-4%. Vanadium helps enhance the strength, plasticity and fatigue resistance of titanium alloys, and can effectively improve the alloy’s high temperature resistance. In the Ti-6Al-4V alloy, vanadium and aluminum form a more stable alloy phase, thereby improving the mechanical properties of the alloy.

Ti-6Al-4V alloy may also contain small amounts of other elements, such as iron (Fe), oxygen (O) and carbon (C). Although the content of these impurity elements is not high, their impact on the performance of the alloy cannot be ignored.

Performance of Ti6Al4V

1. Strength: The strength of Gr.5 titanium alloy is better than that of pure titanium, and it has excellent tensile strength and yield strength at room temperature.

2. Corrosion resistance: Gr.5 titanium alloy has good corrosion resistance and can resist the erosion of most corrosive media such as acids, salt water and sea water.

3. Heat treatment properties: Gr.5 titanium alloy has good heat treatment properties, and different mechanical properties and microstructure can be obtained by controlling the processing parameters.

4. Machinability: Gr.5 titanium alloy has good machinability and can be used for various processing techniques, such as forging, milling, turning and welding.

5. Lightweight: Compared to many other metal materials, Gr.5 titanium alloy has a lower density, making it an ideal choice for applications that require light weight and high strength at the same time.

Applications of Ti6Al4V

1. Aerospace industry: Gr.5 titanium alloy is widely used in aircraft, missiles, spacecraft and other fields to manufacture structural parts, engine parts, fuselages and propellers.

2. Medical devices: Due to its biocompatibility and corrosion resistance, Gr.5 titanium alloy is widely used in the production of medical devices, bone repair devices, artificial joints, etc.

3. Automotive industry: Gr.5 titanium alloy can be used in automotive braking systems, exhaust pipes, seats, frames and other components to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency.

4. Sports equipment: Due to its light weight and high strength, Gr.5 titanium alloy is used to manufacture high-end sports equipment, such as bicycle frames, golf clubs and tennis rackets.

Quality control

Our products implement the most stringent quality management system. There are strict inspection standards for incoming materials, processes, final inspections, and factory inspections. Strict isolation measures will be adopted for unqualified processing to prevent unqualified products from flowing into the next process. Samples will be provided to customers according to customer requirements for re-inspection.

Packaging and storage

Usually vacuum packed internally and carton packed externally, it can also be packaged according to customer needs.

When storing Ti6Al4V, you first need to choose a dry, ventilated and alkaline gas-free storage environment to ensure that the quality of the powder is not affected by moisture, contamination, oxidation reactions and other harmful effects. At the same time, room temperature needs to be maintained during storage and large temperature fluctuations should be avoided to maintain the stability of the chemical properties and particle size of the powder.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.

Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
