Tin metal bar is a tin metal material in the form of a bar, which has the basic characteristics of tin metal, such as silver grey appearance and soft texture, and plays a role in many fields such as industry and handicrafts.

Characteristics

Density: approx. 7.31 g/cm3 (at 20°C), which is relatively dense and gives tin metal rods a certain weight in the hand.

Appearance: A silvery-grey metallic solid with a metallic lustre, somewhat similar in appearance to other common metal rods, but with its own unique characteristics of colour and lustre.

Melting point: 231.9681°C, belongs to the relatively low melting point of the metal, after heating to a certain temperature will gradually melt, this characteristic makes tin rods in the processing process is relatively easy to melt moulding and other operations.

Boiling point: 2270°C, the higher boiling point ensures that tin rods can remain solid and non-volatile at room temperature and in general high-temperature environments.

Thermal conductivity: 0.668 Watt/cm/Kelvin (at 298.2K), with good thermal conductivity, able to transfer heat quickly, which is important in some application scenarios that require thermal conductivity, such as in the heat dissipation of electronic equipment may be used in the thermal conductivity of tin rods.

Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: 22.0 µm/(mKelvin) at 20°C. The coefficient of thermal expansion affects the dimensional change of a tin bar as a function of temperature, and indicates that the bar will expand or contract to some degree as a function of temperature.

Young’s Modulus: 50 Gipa, Young’s Modulus reflects the stiffness of a material and the relatively low Young’s Modulus of a tin metal bar means that it is relatively susceptible to deformation.

Resistivity: 11.0 µOhm/cm (at 0°C), the low resistivity provides good electrical conductivity and therefore tin metal rods can be used in applications where electrical conductivity is required, such as in the connection of electronic circuits.

Applications

Soldering:

In electronic soldering, tin metal rods are an important material. Due to the relatively low melting point of tin, good fluidity and good electrical conductivity, tin rods can be melted and connected to the pins and other parts of electronic components to form a reliable circuit connection. For example, in the production and assembly of circuit boards, tin rods are widely used to weld various electronic components to ensure the normal operation of the circuit.

In the metal processing and maintenance industry, tin soldering is also commonly used to connect some small or thin-walled metal parts. For some metal products that are not suitable for high-temperature welding, soldering can be achieved at a lower temperature to connect, to avoid excessive impact on the performance of metal materials.

Chemical Industry:

Tin rods can be used as catalysts or catalyst carriers for certain chemical reactions. Although its catalytic activity may not be as good as some precious metal catalysts, in some specific chemical reactions, the catalytic properties of tin can meet the requirements of the reaction and the cost is relatively low.

In chemical laboratories, tin rods can be used to make parts of some experimental devices, such as stirring rods and priming rods. As tin has certain corrosion resistance, it can resist the erosion of chemical reagents to a certain extent.

Metal Coating:

A layer of tin can be plated on the surface of other metal materials through hot dip plating, electroplating and other methods. Tin-plated metal products have better corrosion resistance. For example, tin-plating on the surface of steel products can prevent steel from rusting and extend its service life. Tin rods, as the raw material for tin plating, provide a source of tin for metal coating.

In the food packaging industry, tin-plated metal materials are commonly used to make packaging containers such as canning boxes and beverage cans, as tin is safer for food and does not adversely affect the quality of food.

Arts & Crafts:

In the field of sculpture, artists can use tin rods to create small sculptures or detailed parts of sculptures. Tin’s soft texture makes it easy to process and shape. Artists can process tin rods into various shapes of sculptures through forging, soldering, carving and other craft techniques.

In jewellery making, tin rods can be used to create unique pieces of jewellery such as necklaces, bracelets and earrings. By matching with other metals or gemstones, jewellery pieces with individuality are created.

Semiconductor Manufacturing:

In the semiconductor industry, tin can be used as a dopant in the preparation of semiconductor materials. By doping the right amount of tin into the semiconductor material, the electrical properties of the semiconductor can be altered to make it meet the needs of different electronic devices.

In the packaging process of semiconductor chips, tin rods can be used to make solder balls or solder paste to achieve the connection between the chip and the package substrate, ensuring signal transmission and circuit connectivity.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.

Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
