Tantalum rods are a rod-shaped product made of tantalum metal with a variety of properties and a wide range of applications.

 

Basic Information:

 

Appearance: usually showing a silvery grey metallic luster, the surface of processed tantalum rods is relatively smooth.
Density: 16.69 g / cm3
Melting point: 2996°C.
Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: The coefficient of thermal expansion is very small, which means that the dimensional change of Tantalum rods is relatively small when the temperature changes, enabling them to maintain good dimensional stability at high temperatures or in environments with large temperature changes.

 

Production process:

 

Material preparation: select high purity tantalum raw materials to ensure the quality and performance of tantalum rods.

 

Forging or extrusion: Tantalum raw materials are forged or extruded to form intermediate billets of moderate dimensions, with a forging or extruding section yield of 70-90 per cent.

 

Heat treatment: The billets are annealed and heat treated to improve the mechanical properties and organisation of the tantalum rods.

 

Machining: Tantalum rods are further processed by turning, milling, grinding and other machining methods to achieve precise shape and size requirements.

 

Surface treatment: According to the needs, tantalum rods are subjected to surface treatment, such as polishing, sandblasting, electrochemical polishing, etc., in order to improve the surface quality and corrosion resistance of tantalum rods.

 

Application fields:

 

Electronic industry: Tantalum metal can be used to manufacture electrodes or leads for capacitors, resistors, inductors and other electronic components.

 

Aerospace: In the aerospace field, tantalum metal rods can be used to manufacture high-temperature alloys, jet engine parts, rocket engine nozzles and so on.
