Tantalum Iodide powder is composed of Tantalum (Ta) and Iodide (I), usually black in appearance, with a high density (about 5.8g/cm³), a melting point of 496°C and a boiling point of 543°C. It is susceptible to moisture and hydrolysis in air and decomposes into metallic Tantalum and Iodide at high temperatures, and can be used for the preparation of high-purity Tantalum powder as an inorganic compound.

Properties

Chemical formula: TaI5, an inorganic compound composed of tantalum (Ta) and iodine (I).

Appearance: usually black powder or black hexagonal crystal.

Density: 5.8 g/cm³ (at 25℃)

Melting point: 496°C

Boiling point: 543°C

Chemical Stability: Relatively stable at room temperature and pressure, but easy to absorb moisture and hydrolyse in air, generating tantalum pentoxide; easy to decompose into metallic tantalum and elemental iodine under high temperature conditions.

Applications

Intermediate product or reactant in chemical synthesis: In some specific chemical reactions, tantalum iodide can participate in the reaction as a reactant for the synthesis of other tantalum-containing compounds. For example, it may play a role in some organometallic chemical syntheses, helping to introduce the element tantalum into the structure of the target compound. Through further chemical reactions, tantalum iodide can be converted into other tantalum compounds, which may have potential applications in materials science, catalysis and other fields.

Potential applications in materials science research: Although not yet a widely used material, tantalum iodide may be used as a precursor for the preparation of new tantalum-containing materials in materials science research. For example, through specific process conditions, it can be converted into tantalum oxides, carbides and other compounds, which have important applications in the fields of ceramic materials, cemented carbides and electronic materials. In the preparation of thin-film materials, tantalum iodide may be used as an evaporation source material to prepare tantalum-containing thin films by methods such as physical vapour-phase deposition, and these thin films may have special physical and chemical properties, such as high hardness and high electrical conductivity.

Reagent in laboratory research: In chemistry laboratories, tantalum iodide can be used as a special reagent to study the chemical properties of the element tantalum, reaction mechanisms and other basic scientific issues. For example, by studying the reaction of Tantalum iodide with other compounds, it is possible to gain insight into the behaviour and reaction properties of the element Tantalum in different chemical environments.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.

Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
