Tantalum Hafnium Carbide powder is a ceramic powder material with special properties and applications.

Basic information

Elemental composition: It is mainly composed of three elements: tantalum (Ta), hafnium (Hf) and carbon (C).
Crystal structure: Typical carbide crystal structure.

High melting point: Tantalum (Ta) and hafnium (Hf) elements in Ta4HfC5 have high melting points by themselves, 3017°C and 2227°C respectively.

High hardness: The hardness of Ta4HfC5 is mainly due to the strong covalent and ionic bonds between the metal atoms (Ta and Hf) and the carbon atoms in its crystal structure.

Areas of application

Aerospace: Due to their high melting point, good high temperature stability and oxidation resistance, Tantalum Hafnium Carbide powders are used to manufacture high temperature components for aerospace engines.

Cutting tools: The high hardness of Ta4HfC5 powders makes them suitable for use as coating materials for cutting tools. Coating the surface of cutting tools with Ta4HfC5 coating can significantly improve the wear resistance, cutting speed and service life of cutting tools.

High-temperature ceramics: Tantalum Hafnium Carbide can be used as a raw material for high-temperature structural ceramics, and is used to manufacture ceramic parts that are used in high temperature, high pressure and harsh environments, such as the lining of high-temperature furnaces, reactors and so on.
