Silver Chromium Alloy Sputtering Target is an alloy target consisting of silver and chromium used for the preparation of thin film materials by sputtering in processes such as physical vapour deposition.
Characteristics
Hardness: Chromium has a high hardness, and alloying it with silver significantly increases the hardness of silver, making the silver chromium alloy more resistant to abrasion and deformation than pure silver, making it suitable for applications where hardness is a requirement, such as in the production of jewellery, where it can increase the durability of the jewellery and make it less susceptible to scratches or damage.
Density: Silver has a density of approximately 10.5 grams per cubic centimetre (g/cm3) and chromium has a density of approximately 7.19 g/cm3. The density of silver chromium alloy will fall somewhere in between and decrease as the chromium content increases. Variations in density can affect the weight of the material and the experience of using it in some applications.
Melting point: The melting point of silver is 961.78℃, and the melting point of chromium is higher, about 1857±20℃. The melting point of silver chromium alloy varies depending on the ratio of the components, but is generally between the melting points of silver and chromium. The higher melting point allows silver chromium alloy to maintain stable properties in high temperature environments and is suitable for some applications under high temperature working conditions.
Antioxidant: Pure silver is easily oxidised in the air, and black silver oxide will gradually form on the surface. And chromium has better antioxidant property, the existence of chromium in silver chromium alloy can improve the antioxidant ability of silver, make the alloy more stable in the air, not easy to be oxidised, so as to prolong the service life of the material.
Corrosion resistance: Chromium has good corrosion resistance in many corrosive media, and silver chrome alloy inherits this property and has a certain resistance to corrosive substances such as acids and alkalis. This makes silver chromium alloy in the chemical industry, medical and other areas that require corrosion resistance of materials have application potential, such as can be used in the manufacture of medical equipment, chemical equipment parts and so on.
Ductility: silver has good ductility and can be easily processed into various shapes. After adding chromium, the ductility of silver chromium alloy will be affected to a certain extent, but through reasonable processing technology and composition control, it can maintain a certain degree of ductility while improving the strength of the material. This makes the silver-chromium alloy can meet the processing needs of some complex shapes of parts, but also to ensure the strength and stability of the parts in the process of use.
Tensile Strength: The addition of chromium improves the tensile strength of silver, enabling silver chromium alloy to withstand greater tensile forces without breaking. In some application scenarios that require greater tensile force or stress, such as mechanical structural components, springs, etc., this characteristic of silver-chromium alloys is of great significance.
Conductivity: silver itself has excellent conductivity, silver chromium alloy in maintaining a certain degree of conductivity at the same time, its conductivity will be affected to a certain extent due to the addition of chromium, but overall still has a better conductive properties to meet the electronics, semiconductors and other fields of conductive materials requirements.
Applications
Electronics field:
Integrated Circuit Manufacturing: It can be used for the preparation of conductive and barrier layers in integrated circuits. The thin film formed by sputtering of silver-chromium alloy target can provide good conductivity and electrical connection for electronic components in integrated circuits, while the presence of chromium helps to improve the stability and corrosion resistance of the film to ensure the performance and reliability of integrated circuits.
Electrode materials: Used as electrode materials in capacitors, batteries and other electronic devices. The combination of the high electrical conductivity of silver and the good stability of chromium enables the electrodes to transmit charge efficiently and maintain good performance during long-term use.
Electromagnetic shielding: Electromagnetic shielding coatings in electronic devices can be prepared from silver-chromium sputtering targets. This coating can effectively block external electromagnetic interference, protect the internal circuitry of electronic equipment from being affected, and ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
Optical field:
Optical films: can be used to prepare optical lenses, filters and other optical components on the film, such as transmittance enhancement film, reflective film, etc.. The optical properties of silver-chromium alloy films can be adjusted according to different application requirements. Through sputtering process, it forms uniform, high-quality films on the surface of optical elements to meet the performance requirements of optical elements.
Decorative coating: Using its unique metallic texture and optical properties, it can be coated on the surface of decorations, handicrafts and the appearance of some high-end products to increase the aesthetics and added value of the products.
Mechanical field:
Surface Coating: Silver chromium alloy film is deposited on the surface of mechanical parts through sputtering technology, which can improve the hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the parts and prolong the service life of the parts. For example, coating on the surface of easy-to-wear parts such as knives, moulds, bearings, etc. can significantly improve their performance.
Lubrication coating: Silver chrome alloy film has a low coefficient of friction, and can be applied as a lubrication coating on mechanical moving parts to reduce friction and wear, and improve the operating efficiency and reliability of mechanical systems.
Other fields:
Sensors: silver-chromium alloy sputtering targets can be used to prepare sensitive elements for various sensors, such as temperature sensors, pressure sensors and so on. Its good electrical properties and stability can ensure the accuracy and reliability of the sensor.
Biomedicine: In the field of biomedicine, silver-chromium alloy films can be used to prepare surface coatings for implantable medical devices, such as cardiac stents, artificial joints, etc., to improve the biocompatibility and corrosion resistance of the devices.
