Silicon monoxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula SiO. It is a compound composed of silicon and oxygen elements with a molecular weight of 60.0845. SiO is a brown solid powder with a high melting point and boiling point. It is a relatively stable compound, but it can react with certain substances at high temperatures.
Appearance: black brown to loess amorphous powder
Melting point: 1702°C
Boiling point: 1880°C
Density: 2.13g/cm
Insoluble in water. It can be dissolved in a mixed acid of dilute hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid and release silicon tetrafluoride, and generate white silicon dioxide powder when heated in air.
1. Semiconductor materials: Because SiO has high purity and excellent physical properties, it is an important raw material for preparing semiconductor materials. By doping with other elements, the conductive properties of SiO can be adjusted to meet the needs of different electronic devices.
2. Optical materials: SiO has high transparency and good optical properties, so it is often used as a material for preparing optical lenses, prisms and other optical components.
3. Ceramic materials: SiO is also an important component for preparing high-performance ceramics. These ceramic materials have excellent properties such as high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, and are widely used in aerospace, automobile manufacturing and other fields.
Currently, there are two main methods for preparing SiO: chemical vapor deposition and sol-gel method.
1. Chemical vapor deposition method: Under a certain temperature and pressure, silicon source and oxygen source are converted into silicon monoxide through chemical reaction and deposited on the substrate. This method can prepare high-purity and high-quality silicon monoxide films.
2. Sol-gel method: By dissolving the silicon source in a solvent to form a sol, and then undergoing steps such as gelation, drying and heat treatment, silicon monoxide powder or bulk material is finally obtained. This method is simple in process, low in cost, and suitable for large-scale production.
SiO is a typical insulating material and does not have the conductivity of semiconductor materials. Although silicon monoxide is widely used in the electronics field to manufacture insulating and isolation layers in integrated circuits, it is not a semiconductor material itself.
VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.
Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
