Selenium Disulfide Powder is an orange-yellow to orange-red, hydrogen sulfide odor, insoluble in water, molecular weight 143.09 powder, which has different applications in pharmaceutical, rubber, glass and other industries.
Properties
Chemical Formula: SeS₂
Molecular weight: 143.09
Appearance: Orange-yellow to orange-red powder.
Odor: characteristic odor of hydrogen sulfide.
Solubility: insoluble in water, slightly soluble in chloroform, very slightly soluble in ether, soluble in organic solvents such as carbon disulfide.
Density: about 2.54 g/cm³.
Melting point: decomposition begins at <100°C
Stability: relatively stable at room temperature and pressure, but easily decomposed by heat or in moist air, producing toxic gases such as hydrogen selenide.
Oxidizing property: It has certain oxidizing property, and can be used as oxidizing agent in some chemical reactions.
Reaction with acid: It can react with strong oxidizing acid to produce corresponding selenium compounds and sulfur dioxide.
Applications
Pharmaceutical field: Selenium Disulfide is a common antifungal drug ingredient, commonly used in the treatment of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and other skin diseases, with anti-seborrhea, anti-fungal, keratolytic and other effects.
Rubber industry: Selenium Disulfide can be used as vulcanizing agent of rubber, which can improve the performance of rubber such as abrasion resistance, aging resistance and mechanical strength.
Glass industry: It can be used as decolorant in glass manufacturing to remove the green tint in glass and make glass more transparent.
Other fields: Selenium Disulfide can also be used in electronics, optics and other fields, such as as a dopant for semiconductor materials, but these applications are relatively few.
VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.
Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
