Potassium tantalate (KTaO3) is an inorganic compound composed of potassium ions (K+) and tantalate ions (TaO3-). It is a functional material with important physical and chemical properties.

Preparation

Generated by the reaction of tantalum hydroxide and alkali solution or by the reaction of tantalum pentoxide and potassium carbonate.
Single crystals are prepared by the Czochralski method or the kilosynthetic method.

Application

1. Dielectric material: Due to its high dielectric constant and low loss characteristics, potassium tantalate is used as a dielectric material in capacitors, piezoelectric ceramics, supercapacitors and other fields.

2. Piezoelectric materials: Potassium tantalate has a piezoelectric effect, so it can be used in piezoelectric sensors, pressure sensors, and acoustic wave generators.

3. Optical materials: Due to its optical properties and electrical properties controlled by light, potassium tantalate can be used in optical devices, optical waveguide devices, and photoelectric sensors.

4. Electronic devices: Potassium tantalate can also be used in electronic devices such as field effect transistors (FETs) and phototransistors.
