Potassium hexafluorophosphate, with the chemical formula KPF6, is an inorganic compound.

VIMATERIAL provides high-purity potassium hexafluorophosphate, has a professional R&D team, and can accept customization and experiments. Please contact us.

Physical properties

Appearance: Potassium hexafluorophosphate is a white crystalline powder, sometimes also presents as a square or rectangular thick plate-like crystal with a face-centered cubic lattice structure.

Melting point: 575℃

Density: 2.75g/cm³

Refractive index: 1.366

Vapor pressure: 41.5mmHg

Solubility: Soluble in water, with a solubility of about 93g/L (25 o’clock), and slightly soluble in methanol, but insoluble in other organic solvents such as ether.

Chemical properties

Thermal stability: Potassium hexafluorophosphate decomposes at high temperatures to produce potassium fluoride, phosphorus trifluoride and elemental fluorine, and the reaction equation is KPF6 → KF + PF3↑ + F2↑.

Reaction with acid: KPF6 can react with concentrated inorganic acid to prepare hexafluorophosphoric acid, but the specific reaction equation may vary depending on the type of acid and reaction conditions.

Sensitivity: KPF6 is hygroscopic and sensitive to moisture, so it needs to be kept dry during storage and use.

Other reactions: When heated with solid NaOH, potassium hexafluorophosphate will react violently at above 400 to produce fluoride and phosphate.

Application

Organic fluorine substituent: Potassium hexafluorophosphate is mainly used as an organic fluorine substituent and has a wide range of applications in organic synthesis.

Preparation of other hexafluorophosphates: Potassium hexafluorophosphate can also be used to prepare other hexafluorophosphate compounds.

Quality Control

Our products implement the most stringent quality management system. There are strict inspection standards for incoming materials, process, final inspection, and factory inspection. Strict isolation measures will be adopted for unqualified processing to prevent unqualified products from flowing into the next process. Samples will be provided to customers according to customer requirements for re-inspection.

Packaging and Storage

Inner vacuum packaging and outer carton packaging.

It should be stored in a dry and cool place, away from fire and flammable materials. During storage and transportation, care should be taken to avoid contact with organic matter, acid, reducing agent and other substances to prevent unexpected reactions and accidents.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.

Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
