Potassium acetate, also known as potassium acetate, has a chemical formula of C2H3O2K. It is a salt obtained by the reaction of sodium acetate and potassium chloride. It is a white crystalline powder, odorless, slightly salty, and easily soluble in water and ethanol.

Properties

Chemical formula: CH3COOK

Molecular weight: 98.14

Melting point: 292 ℃

Density: 1.57 g/cm³

Appearance: white powder

Solubility: easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and liquid ammonia, insoluble in ether and acetone.

Potassium acetate is a weakly acidic substance that exhibits weak acidity in water. Its acid ionization effect is small, and it is not easy to decompose free acid. At the same time, it decomposes acetic acid and potassium oxide when heated.

Production

There are two main production processes for potassium acetate. One is to react potassium chloride and sodium acetate to obtain potassium acetate and sodium chloride, and then separate potassium acetate through processes such as crystallization and evaporation. The other is to ferment potassium acetate using natural products such as wood peel (fruit peel, bark, etc.) as raw materials.

Applications

Medical field: Potassium acetate is an effective electrolyte supplement that can help regulate the acid-base balance in the body, especially in the treatment of metabolic acidosis. In addition, it can also be used as a sustained-release agent for drugs to prolong the duration of drug action.

Food field: It is often used as a preservative and antibacterial agent to help extend the shelf life of food. At the same time, it is also a flavoring agent that can improve the taste of food.

Industrial field: It can be used as a buffer in the electroplating industry to prevent the acidity of the electrolyte from being too high. In polyurethane production, it can also be used as a catalyst. In addition, it can also be used to make transparent glass, insulation materials, fiberglass, dyes and pigments, etc. In these manufacturing processes, it can be used as an industrial catalyst, auxiliary agent or additive to improve the stability and durability of the product.

Quality Control

Our products implement the most stringent quality management system. There are strict inspection standards for incoming materials, processes, final inspections, and factory inspections. Strict isolation measures will be adopted for unqualified processing to prevent unqualified products from flowing into the next process. Samples will be provided to customers according to customer requirements for re-inspection.

Packaging and Storage

Vacuum bags and cartons are used for packaging.

Potassium acetate should be stored in a cool and dry environment, and the storage temperature should be below 30°C. The storage room or warehouse should be well ventilated, and the relative humidity should be kept below 75% to reduce the moisture absorption of potassium acetate and avoid agglomeration.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.

Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
