Neodymium Oxide powder is a kind of rare earth metal oxide powder with a relative density of 7.24g/cm³, light blue appearance (dark blue after moisture), insoluble in water but soluble in inorganic acids, melting point about 1900℃ (or 2233℃), mainly used in permanent magnetic materials, optical glass, ceramics colouring and other fields.
Molecular weight: 336.48g/mol
Colour: Neodymium Oxide is usually mauve or purple-red, light blue powder (the colour may vary slightly depending on the preparation method, particle size and other factors).
Density: 7.24g/cm³, it is denser, which makes it weighty and stable in applications, such as in ceramics, alloys, and other materials to increase the density and weight of the material.
Melting point: 2233°C (4051°F) or about 1900°C (data from different literature vary slightly). The high melting point ensures that it maintains stable physical properties at high temperatures and can be used in high temperature related processes and applications.
Boiling point: 3760°C (6800°F).
Solubility: very slightly soluble in water, the solubility is 0.00019g/100ml water at 20℃, the solubility is 0.003g/100ml water at 75℃, but easily soluble in inorganic acids.
Hygroscopicity and carbon dioxide absorption: Neodymium Oxide easily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide in the air, so it needs to pay attention to moisture-proof and sealing during storage and use.
Magnetic properties: Neodymium oxide has certain magnetic properties, it is one of the important raw materials for manufacturing permanent magnetic materials, and can be used to manufacture strong magnetic NdFeB permanent magnets.
Optical properties: Neodymium Oxide has important applications in the field of optics, where it has absorption and emission properties for light of specific wavelengths. For example, Nd-doped materials can be used to make laser crystals, optical glass, etc., which will show different colour changes under different light conditions.
Applications
Permanent magnet material field: It is the key raw material for manufacturing strong magnetic NdFeB. NdFeB permanent magnet materials have extremely high magnetic energy product and coercivity, and are widely used in electric motors, electronics, aerospace and other fields, such as drive motors for electric vehicles, wind turbines, hard disc drives, etc.
Optical field: used in the manufacture of laser materials, such as neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd:YAG) is an important solid-state laser material, which can be used for laser cutting, welding, marking, and laser medicine. As a colouring agent for glass, it can provide unique colour and optical properties for glass, such as the manufacture of coloured glass, filter glass and welding goggles. Partially neodymium-doped glass will show colour changes under different light conditions and has dichroic properties.
Ceramic field: It is a commonly used doping agent in ceramic industry, which can improve the performance and appearance of ceramics, and is suitable for high temperature porcelain glaze, etc.
Electronic field: it can be used as dopant for making ceramic capacitors, improving the performance of capacitors.
Alloy material field: adding appropriate amount of neodymium oxide in magnesium alloy or aluminium alloy can improve the high temperature performance, airtightness and corrosion resistance of the alloy, which is widely used as aerospace materials.
Catalytic field: It can be used as catalyst or catalyst carrier to participate in certain chemical reactions, such as playing a catalytic role in polymerisation reactions.
VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.
Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
