Neodymium Fluoride particles are solid particles consisting of neodymium fluoride (NdF₃), usually white or off-white in colour, which play an important role in the fields of optics, magnetic materials, and rare earth metal smelting.

Characteristics

Chemical formula: NdF₃

Molecular weight: 201.24

Appearance: white slightly purplish-red powder

Density: 6.506 g/ml (25℃/4℃)

Melting point: 1410°C

Boiling point: 2300°C

Solubility: insoluble in water, insoluble in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sulphuric acid, but soluble in perchloric acid; hygroscopic in air, more stable

Magnetic properties: the element neodymium itself has a certain magnetic property, neodymium fluoride as a compound containing neodymium also has a certain magnetic property, but the specific magnetic parameter will be different due to the purity of the material, crystal structure and other factors.

Optical properties: It has important applications in optics, it can be used in the preparation of optical coatings and filters, etc., and can improve the performance of optical components such as lenses in a specific wavelength range; and it is an important raw material in the field of rare-earth crystal laser materials and rare-earth fluoride glass optical fibres.

Electrical Properties: There is relatively little data on its electrical conductivity constants and other electrical aspects, but usually its conductivity is poor, belonging to a dielectric material. However, in some specific electronic device applications, it can be used as a precursor to synthesise other neodymium-containing compounds for use in electronic devices, indirectly playing a certain electrical role.

Role

Laser field: It is used to produce neodymium-doped laser materials, and is a key component in the manufacture of laser crystals such as neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd:YAG) lasers, which are widely used in a variety of high-precision applications, such as medical surgeries, materials processing, and scientific research.

Optical Coatings: Can be used to produce optical coatings and filters that are applied to lenses and other optical components to improve their performance in specific wavelength ranges.

Magnetic materials: Although neodymium fluoride itself is not directly used in the manufacture of permanent magnets, it plays an important role in the production of neodymium metal, which is a key element in the manufacture of high-performance neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets.

Electronic devices: Neodymium-containing materials can be used in a variety of electronic devices, such as sensors and actuators, etc. Neodymium fluoride can be used in these electronic devices as a precursor for the synthesis of other neodymium-containing compounds.

Catalysis: It can be used as a catalyst or catalyst carrier in certain catalytic processes, especially in specific chemical reactions involving fluorination.

Glass and ceramics: It can be used in the production of special glass, such as neodymium-doped glass with unique optical properties, including colour and light-absorbing properties; neodymium fluoride is also used in the manufacture of advanced ceramics if specific optical or magnetic properties are required.

Scientific research: Used in materials science research to explore the properties and potential applications of neodymium-based materials and to support the development of new technologies and advanced materials.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.

Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
