Molybdenum Oxide powder is a white or yellowish powder with specific physicochemical properties, which can be produced by various methods and has a wide range of applications in many fields such as iron and steel, electronics, and chemicals.

Chemical formula: MoO3.

Molecular weight: 143.94

CAS Registry Number: 1313-27-5

Appearance: Usually white or light yellow powder.

Melting point: about 795°C.

Boiling point: about 1155°C.

Density: 4.67-4.69.

Oxidizing property: Molybdenum Oxide has certain oxidizing property and can be used as oxidizing agent in some chemical reactions.

Acidity and alkalinity: both acidic and alkaline, but the acidity is more significant, can react with alkali to produce molybdate, for example, with sodium hydroxide to produce sodium molybdate.

Stability: Relatively stable at room temperature and pressure, but may undergo chemical reactions at high temperatures or in specific chemical environments, e.g. it can be reduced to molybdenum metal when heated in a hydrogen atmosphere.

Applications

Iron and steel industry: as an alloy additive for steel, it can improve the strength, hardness, toughness and wear resistance of steel, and also improve the corrosion and oxidation resistance of steel, which is widely used in the production of stainless steel, alloy steel and other high-performance steel.

Electronic industry: Molybdenum Oxide used in the manufacture of electronic components, such as molybdenum capacitors, molybdenum resistors, etc., its good electrical conductivity and chemical stability so that it can meet the requirements of electronic components on the performance of the material; can also be used as a raw material for electron-beam evaporation coating, used in the preparation of a variety of functional thin films such as molybdenum film, molybdenum-silicon thin film, etc., these films in the semiconductor devices, integrated circuits and other fields have important applications.

Chemical industry: Molybdenum Oxide is an important raw material for the production of molybdate, molybdenum catalyst and other chemical products, molybdate has a wide range of applications in the field of pigments, coatings, corrosion inhibitors, etc., while molybdenum catalyst plays an important catalytic role in the field of petrochemicals, organic synthesis and other fields.

Ceramic industry: added to ceramic materials, can improve the mechanical properties of ceramics, thermal stability and wear resistance, improve the quality and service life of ceramic products, but also for the preparation of molybdenum ceramics, molybdenum matrix composite materials and other high-performance ceramic materials, these materials have potential applications in aerospace, mechanical engineering and other fields.

Optical field: Molybdenum Oxide can be used to prepare optical films, such as molybdenum oxide films with good optical transparency and refractive index adjustability, which can be used to manufacture optical lenses, filters, mirrors and other optical components. In addition, molybdenum oxide powder can be used as a substrate for fluorescent materials, and by doping other elements to prepare phosphors with specific luminescent properties, which can be used in fluorescent lamps, displays and other fields.
