Lanthanum Boride Pellets are fine particles of lanthanum (La) and boron (B), usually black or grey in colour, with high melting point, high hardness, good electrical conductivity and chemical stability, which are widely used in electronics, metallurgy, ceramics and other fields.

Characteristics

High hardness: Lanthanum Boride, as a refractory metal compound, has a high hardness, which enables it to maintain good mechanical stability in the process of application, and is not easy to be abraded or deformed.

High melting point: melting point up to 2210 ° C, has a good high temperature stability, can be in a high temperature environment to maintain the stability of the structure and performance, suitable for high temperature working conditions of the application scenario.

High Density: Density of 4.72g/cm³, high density makes it has a good mass to volume ratio, in some of the density requirements of the material has an advantage in the application.

Special Colour and Appearance: Lanthanum Boride usually appears as a purple powder, a colour that makes it easy to identify and distinguish in products.

High chemical stability: at room temperature, it is chemically stable and does not react with common substances such as water, oxygen, hydrochloric acid, etc. However, it will be oxidised at 600 – 700°C in an oxygenated atmosphere; in a high temperature vacuum environment, it is easy to react with other substances or gases to form a low melting point substance.

Electrical properties: Lanthanum Boride has high electrical conductivity and high emission current density, low evaporation rate, strong ion bombardment resistance, strong electric field resistance and radiation resistance, which makes it widely used in electronic devices requiring large emission current.

Crystal Structure Properties: Belonging to the cubic crystal system, it has a special crystal structure, and this structure provides it with unique physical and chemical properties.

Applications

Cathode material: Lanthanum Boride is an ideal material for making cathodes for high-power electron tubes, magnetrons, electron beams, ion beams, accelerators and other devices, providing stable electron emission.

Electron microscope: can be used as an electron source in electron microscopes, providing high-resolution imaging for electron microscopes.
Semiconductor manufacturing: It can be used in semiconductor manufacturing processes such as thin film deposition and etching to improve the performance of semiconductor devices.

Optics: Used as a size/strain standard for X-ray powder diffraction and to calibrate the instrumental broadening of diffraction peaks.

New energy field: Lanthanum Boride has great potential as a thermionic emitter in renewable energy applications, such as in solar cells, fuel cells and other new energy devices.

Coating materials: nanoscale lanthanum hexaboride can be used in coatings for polyethylene film sheets to insulate the infrared rays of the sun.

Aerospace field: Due to its high temperature resistance, high hardness, high conductivity and other characteristics, it can be used in high-temperature components and electronic equipment in the aerospace field.

Metallurgy: In the metallurgical process, it can be used as an additive or catalyst to improve the efficiency of metallurgical reaction and product quality.
