Indium sulfide sputtering target is a material used in magnetron sputtering and other coating techniques. Thin films of indium sulphide, of which indium sulfide is the main component, can be deposited on a substrate, making it a functional material with potential applications in semiconductors and optoelectronics.

Properties

Chemical formula: In₂S₃, indicating a compound consisting of two indium atoms and three sulfur atoms.

Chemical Stability: It has a certain chemical stability at room temperature and pressure, but may react chemically under certain conditions such as high temperature and strong oxidising agents. For example, when heated in air, it turns into indium trioxide. Soluble in aqueous ammonium sulfide solution.

Appearance: Usually red in colour.

Density: approx. 5.18 x 10³kg/m³.

Melting point: about 679°C

Crystal structure: Has a specific crystal structure, which has an important influence on the arrangement of atoms and film growth during sputtering.

Sputtering rate: Specific sputtering rate under certain sputtering power and sputtering gas conditions. The sputtering rate affects the efficiency and productivity of thin film deposition.

Areas of application

Semiconductor industry:

Thin-film transistor (TFT) manufacturing: Indium sulfide films can be used as semiconducting or insulating layers in the preparation of TFTs. Indium sulfide films prepared by sputtering targets have good electrical properties and stability, which can improve the performance and reliability of TFTs, and are of great significance to the development of flat panel displays, electronic paper and other electronic devices.

IC manufacturing: Indium sulfide can be used as special structural or functional layers in IC manufacturing, such as diffusion barrier layers and electrode materials. The special physical and chemical properties of indium sulphide can meet the high material requirements of integrated circuit manufacturing and help improve the performance and integration of integrated circuits.

Optical field:

Solar Cells: A promising material for solar cells, its sputtering target can be used to prepare absorber or buffer layers for solar cells. Indium sulfide thin film can absorb specific wavelengths of sunlight and convert it into electricity, thus improving the photoelectric conversion efficiency of solar cells.

Optical Coating: It can be used to prepare coatings for optical lenses, optical windows and so on. Indium sulfide coating can increase the anti-reflective properties of optical components, improve the transmittance of light, or give optical components specific optical properties, such as light filtering, beam splitting and other functions.

Display field:

Flat panel displays: Indium sulfide sputtering targets are used in liquid crystal displays (LCDs), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and other flat panel display technologies to prepare electrodes, insulating or functional layers for display panels. For example, in OLED displays, indium sulfide films can be used as hole transport or electron barrier layers to improve the luminous efficiency and stability of OLEDs.

Touchscreens: Conductive or insulating films used in the preparation of touchscreens. Indium sulfide films have good conductivity and optical transparency, which can meet the material requirements of touch panels and improve the performance and service life of touch panels.

Other fields

Sensors: can be used to manufacture gas sensors, temperature sensors, etc.. Indium sulfide film is sensitive to certain gases, can occur in the gas environment resistance or capacitance changes, so as to achieve the detection of gas; at the same time, the resistance with the temperature change is more obvious, can be used for the preparation of temperature sensors.

Surface modification: By sputtering indium sulfide films on the surface of a material, the surface properties of the material can be improved, such as increasing the hardness, abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance of the material.
