Hafnium Sulfide particles are solid particles composed of hafnium (Hf) and sulphur (S) with unique physical and chemical properties that have potential applications in high temperature, lubrication, and electrical applications.
Properties
Appearance: Purple solid with metallic luster.
Density: Hafnium Sulfide has a theoretical density of 6.03g/cm³.
Melting point: No specific melting point is mentioned in the relevant data, but it decomposes or sublimates without melting at temperatures higher than 800℃.
Solubility: stable in air, insoluble in water, dilute acids and bases, and most organic solvents.
Chemical formula: HfS₂.
Molecular weight: 242.62g/mol
Stability: chemically more stable, can maintain stable existence in air.
Optical Properties: Hafnium Sulfide has an indirect band gap of about 2eV, and its nanosheets have highly nonlinear optical absorption properties, which are potentially useful in ultrafast photonic devices.
Electrical properties: The electrical properties of hafnium sulfide related compounds such as orthorhombic Ag₂HfS₃ and cubic Ag₄Hf₃S₈ have been investigated, and it was found that these compounds have a certain ionic conductivity. However, relatively little mention has been made of accurate electrical data on the hafnium sulphide particles themselves.
Applications
Electronic materials field:
Field effect transistor manufacturing: they can be stripped to a thickness of several atomic layers by the tape method or liquid phase stripping and used to manufacture field effect transistors. Hafnium sulphide has a higher carrier mobility and higher current density than conventional semiconductor materials, and holds great promise for electronic and optoelectronic applications.
Electrode materials: due to its unique electrical properties, it has the potential to be used as an electrode material in batteries, supercapacitors and other energy storage devices, although research in this area is still in its infancy.
Optical field: Hafnium Sulfide can be used to prepare optical coatings and optical devices. It has special optical properties that can absorb, reflect or refract light of specific wavelengths under certain conditions, and is expected to be used in the manufacture of optical filters, anti-reflective coatings and other optical components.
Biomedical field:
Reactive Oxygen Scavenger: Hafnium disulfide nanosheets have potent reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging function and no significant toxicity to mammalian cells, which can be used to prepare reactive oxygen scavengers for the treatment of reactive oxygen species-related inflammatory diseases, such as ulcerative colitis, drug-induced liver injury, and diabetic wound healing.
Bio-imaging: After appropriate surface modification, hafnium sulphide particles have the potential to be used as contrast agents in bio-imaging techniques, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), etc., to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Mechanical engineering: Hafnium sulphide particles can be used as additives to improve the performance of materials in some mechanical components that require high material strength and wear resistance. For example, in the material of the upper roller sleeve of the feeding device, the addition of hafnium sulfide can effectively improve the use of the product’s strength and wear resistance.
High-temperature materials: hafnium sulfide has a high melting point and good thermal stability, and can still maintain good physical and chemical properties in a high-temperature environment, so it can be used as a high-temperature materials in aerospace, high-temperature furnaces and other fields. However, further research and development is needed for this application at present.
VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.
Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
