Crystal structure: At room temperature, erbium nitrate pentahydrate crystallizes in the monoclinic system. In its crystal structure, Er³⁺ ions are multi-coordinated and stabilized by nitrate ions and water molecules to form a complex coordination network. This structure has good solubility and thermal stability, and is suitable for synthesis, decomposition, ion doping and other purposes.

Application

Laser and fiber optic communication materials: Er³⁺ ion emission characteristics in the 1.5 μm range are used to manufacture erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) and laser glass.

Chemical synthesis reagents: Erbium nitrate pentahydrate is used to prepare erbium organic complexes, high-purity erbium salts, and catalyst precursors.

Ceramic and glass modification: Erbium nitrate pentahydrate can be used as a color regulator and thermal stability enhancer.
