Appearance: Usually white powder, but the sample is often colored due to copper (II) impurities, and it will turn green to dark blue under light.

Crystal structure: It adopts a polymer structure similar to zinc sulfide, in which copper ions are tetrahedral coordinated and bromide ions are used as bridging ligands to connect copper ions.

Applications

Organic synthesis field: It can be used as a catalyst for organic synthesis reactions, such as participating in the active free radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate.

Laser technology field: It is an important radiation medium in copper-bromine lasers.

Photosensitive material field: It can be used for color photography, using its properties such as light decomposition to record images.

Polymer material field: It can be used to synthesize polymer materials such as polyvinyl chloride and polybutadiene with benzoxazine side groups.

Coordination chemistry field: It reacts with heterocyclic thioethers to generate mononuclear complexes.
