Cesium Bromide powder is a white crystalline powder composed of cesium ions (Cs⁺) and bromide ions (Br-), which has many applications in the fields of optics and chemical analysis.

Characteristics

Appearance: Usually white powder.

Density: Relatively high, approx. 4.43 g/cc.

Melting point: 636°C, belongs to the higher melting point of the compound, 600 ° C or more melting, above the melting point can be sublimated without decomposition.

Boiling point: 1300°C.

Refractive index: 1.6984

Crystal structure: similar to CsCl, belongs to the cubic crystal system

Solubility: Soluble in water, about 55g of cesium bromide can be dissolved in 100ml of water at 20°C. It is also soluble in ethanol.

Prisms for spectrometers: Because cesium bromide has a high refractive index and good optical properties, it is used to make prisms for spectrometers.
