Chemical formula and composition: The main component of CeO₂ target is cerium dioxide (CeO₂), in which cerium (Ce) is a rare earth element, cerium in this compound presents + 4 valence.

Appearance: The colour is generally white or yellowish.
Density: The density is about 7.215 g/cm³.
Melting point: The high melting point of about 2600°C indicates that the CeO₂ target has good thermal stability.
Electrical properties: CeO₂ is a semiconductor material, and its electrical properties are more complex.
Optical properties: It has good optical transmittance, especially in the infrared region.

Areas of application

Electronics: In semiconductor manufacturing, it is used to prepare insulating films with a high dielectric constant (high – k). the high dielectric constant of Cerium oxide films can effectively reduce the capacitance size in integrated circuits and improve the integration and performance of devices.

Optical field: as an important material for optical films, it is used in the manufacture of infrared optical devices, such as windows of infrared detectors and infrared filters.

Energy field: In solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), Cerium oxide plays an important role as a component of electrolyte materials or electrode materials.

In the field of automobile exhaust gas treatment: Cerium oxide has good oxygen storage capacity, and is used as a catalyst additive or carrier in automobile exhaust gas catalytic purification system.
