Cerium Chloride Heptahydrate powder is a colourless to yellow, hygroscopic crystalline powder, easily soluble in water and ethanol, starting to lose water at 90 ℃, 230 ℃ to become anhydrous, commonly used in analytical reagents, catalysts, and the preparation of cerium metal.

Characteristic

Chemical formula: CeCl3-7H2O

Appearance: Cerium Chloride Heptahydrate is usually colourless to yellow columnar crystal or white powder.

Density: about 3.94g/ml (25℃).

Melting point: 848°C (it loses water of crystallisation and becomes anhydrous at this temperature); it starts to lose water at 90°C and becomes anhydrous completely at 230°C.

Solubility: Cerium Chloride Heptahydrate is soluble in water, ethanol, deliquescent, easily absorbs water in humid air.

Stability: Cerium Chloride Heptahydrate is relatively stable at room temperature and pressure, but it is sensitive to humidity and should be avoided in contact with humid air; it is incompatible with strong acid and strong oxidant.

Thermal decomposition: toxic gas will be decomposed by high heat.

Applications

Analytical reagents: can be used in analytical chemistry experiments, such as as a detection reagent for certain substances or used as a precipitant in the process of chemical analysis.

Catalysts: Used as catalysts in petroleum processing and olefin polymerisation reactions. For example, in the olefin polymerisation reaction with aluminium or magnesium salts together as a catalyst, can promote the reaction.

Preparation of cerium metal: It is an important raw material for the preparation of cerium metal, and the cerium metal with higher purity can be obtained through further chemical reaction or purification process.

Other applications: it can be used to make fluorescent materials, glass pigments, etc.; it is used as cerium chloride supplement in water treatment and waste water treatment process; it can be used for reduction, oxidation and chlorination in organic synthesis reaction.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.

Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
