Cerium boride powder is a grey to black powder composed of elemental cerium and boron with high melting point, high hardness, good stability at high temperature, a compound with good electrical conductivity and chemical activity, with potential applications in metallurgy, ceramics, electronics and other fields.

Characteristic

Appearance: usually black powder.

Density: relatively high density, about 4.8 g/cm³ (may vary slightly with different production processes and purity)

Melting point: Very high melting point, up to 2552°C, which makes it very stable at high temperatures.

Crystal structure: cubic crystal structure

Solubility: insoluble in water

Stability: It is more stable in vacuum environment; in air, it is relatively stable at room temperature, but it may react with oxygen and so on under special conditions such as high temperature.

Electronic properties: It has low escape work and high electron emissivity, this property makes it an excellent cathode material.

Other properties: Cerium Boride has a higher resistance to carbon contamination and a longer service life than similar boride materials such as lanthanum borides.

Applications

Electronics: It can be used as a cathode material for devices such as electron microscopes and microwave tubes. In these applications, the high electron emissivity and stability of cerium boride powder can ensure the normal operation and good performance of the equipment.
Cerium boride powder is also used in processes such as electron beam etching and electron beam welding, where it can be used as a source material for emitting electrons, generating high-energy electron beams for fine processing of materials.
In some vacuum electronic devices, such as X-ray tubes, free electron lasers, etc., cerium boride powder can be used to manufacture electrodes or emitters and other key components.

Materials Science: It can be used as an additive or dopant to improve the properties of other materials. For example, adding cerium boride powder to ceramic materials can improve the hardness, wear resistance and high temperature resistance of ceramics; doping cerium boride powder in metal materials may change the organisational structure and properties of the metal, making it more suitable for specific applications.

Aerospace: Due to its high melting point, high hardness and good high-temperature stability, cerium boride powder also has potential applications in the aerospace field. For example, it can be used to manufacture rocket nozzles, thermal protection components for spacecraft, etc., capable of withstanding extreme high temperature and high pressure conditions.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.

Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
