Production

Calcium nitride is an inorganic substance. Since it is relatively unstable in the air, it needs to be prepared in an inert gas. The following is the preparation method of calcium nitride:

1. Put pure calcium metal into a sealed container of inert gas;

2. Add nitrogen to make the pressure reach a certain value, usually between 1.5-2.5Mpa;

3. Use a high-temperature furnace to heat the container to 1100-1200 degrees Celsius and react for 10-24 hours;

4. After cooling, cool the container to room temperature with cooling water and take out the calcium nitride powder.

Application

Calcium nitride can reduce metal oxides to metals under high temperature and high pressure conditions, and is suitable for the process of extracting and purifying hard metals. It is widely used in metallurgy, chemical industry, electronics, nuclear technology and other fields. Its main applications are as follows:

1. Catalyst reduction: Ca3N2 can be used to produce hydrogen catalysts for strong reducing agents.

2. Metallurgical field: Ca3N2 can be used to reduce metal oxides in powder metallurgy.

3. Preparation of electronic materials: Ca3N2 can be used to prepare nitride-based electronic materials.
