Cadmium Iodide Powder is a white to pale yellow powder with the chemical formula CdI₂, slightly hygroscopic, with some solubility, it is an important inorganic compound with many applications in the fields of optoelectronics and medicine.
Properties
Appearance: white or light yellow crystal or crystalline powder;
Density: 5.76 g/mL (25℃);
Melting point: 387°C;
Boiling point: 796°C;
Solubility: soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, ether, acetone and ammonia. Solubility in water varies at different temperatures, e.g. 78.7 g per 100 ml of water at 0°C, 84.7 g at 20°C, and 125 g at 100°C.
Chemical formula: CdI₂;
Molecular weight: 366.22;
Stability: stable in air, but thermal decomposition releases toxic iodide fumes. Reacts in contact with strong oxidising agents, sulphur, selenium and tellurium.
Applications
Chemical analysis field:
Reagent: used as a reagent for the determination of alkaloids, nitrites, etc. As cadmium iodide can have specific chemical reactions with certain substances, the presence or content of these substances can be accurately detected by observing the reaction phenomena or measuring the relevant data.
Industrial production field:
Photoelectric material: it can be used to manufacture phosphor, photoelectric conductor, and so on. In the photoelectric conversion process, the special structure and properties of cadmium iodide enable it to effectively absorb and transfer light energy, which plays an important role in improving the performance of photoelectric equipment.
Electroplating: In the electroplating process, cadmium iodide can be used as an additive to improve the quality and performance of the plating layer, such as improving the uniformity, gloss and hardness of the plating layer.
Photolithography: In photolithography, cadmium iodide can be used as one of the components of photoresist, which is involved in the manufacturing process of microelectronic products such as semiconductor chips, helping to achieve high-precision pattern transfer.
Pharmaceutical field: in the pharmaceutical industry, cadmium iodide can be used in the synthesis of drugs or as an auxiliary component of drugs, but its application in the pharmaceutical field requires strict control of the dose and conditions of use to ensure safety.
Organic synthesis: It can be used as catalyst for organic synthesis reactions, such as certain isomerisation and disproportionation reactions.
Other fields: It can also be used as a component of insecticide and lubricant.
VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.
Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
