Chemical formula: BiF₃.
Molecular weight: 256.98 g/mol.
CAS No.: 7787-61-3.
Appearance: White crystal or crystalline powder.
Density: Relatively high, about 8.3 g/cm³ (25℃).
Melting point: 725℃ to 730℃.
Refractive index: 1.74.
Solubility: can dissolve in hydrofluoric acid to form complexes, soluble in inorganic acids, but almost insoluble in water. It can be obtained by dissolving bismuth oxide or bismuth hydroxide in aqueous hydrofluoric acid.
Existence form: there are two types of α and β. The α type produced by specific method can be transformed into β type when heated to 220℃.
Optical field: It can be used as an important component of optical coating materials, used in the manufacture of optical devices such as lenses, mirrors, etc., and can improve the performance of optical devices.
Metallurgical field: Bismuth Fluoride used as flux in metallurgical process, especially in the production of non-ferrous metals.
Glass manufacturing: Bismuth Fluoride added to glass can enhance the refractive index of glass and improve its mechanical properties.
Chemical synthesis: used as precursor for synthesising various bismuth compounds, such as bismuth fluoride, bismuth vanadate, bismuth titanate, etc.
VI HALBLEITERMATERIAL GmbH (VIMATERIAL) employs a stringent quality assurance system to ensure the reliability of our product quality. Strict quality control is implemented throughout the entire production chain, and for defective products, we strictly enforce the principle of rework and redo. Each batch is released only after passing detailed specification tests.
Every batch of our materials is independently tested, and, if necessary, we send samples to certified companies for testing. We provide these documents and analysis certificates with the shipment to certify that our products meet the required standards.
