Appearance: White amorphous powder, sometimes may also appear light yellow.
Density: Relative density is 4.36 g/cm³.
Solubility: soluble in acid, almost insoluble in water and alkali, easy to be gelatinous in water.
Thermal stability: Lose 1 molecule of water at 100℃ to form yellow bismuth hydroxide; decompose into bismuth oxide when heated to 415℃.

Chemical Properties:

Amphoteric Hydroxide Properties: It has the characteristics of amphoteric hydroxide, which can react with acid to form salt and water, and also can show basicity under certain conditions.

Oxidising properties: under certain reaction conditions, bismuth hydroxide may exhibit some oxidising properties, but they are relatively weak.

Uses:

Pharmaceutical field: it can be used as a protective agent for gastrointestinal diseases, used to relieve symptoms such as excessive stomach acid; in the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used to prepare certain drugs containing bismuth.

Chemical analysis: Bismuth Hydroxide used as an absorbent for rutin and oak extract, and as a hydrolysing agent for ribonucleic acid; in analytical chemistry, it can be used to separate plutonium from post-radiation uranium.

Industrial application: Bismuth Hydroxide can be used in the manufacture of bismuth salts, which have a wide range of applications in the fields of pigments, catalysts and electronic materials.
